Key Responsibilities

In the role of Portfolio Optimization Lead, you will collaborate with the Director and key stakeholders to enhance the enterprise-wide optimization of our processes, tools, and portfolio models. Your contributions will be vital in implementing improvements to existing frameworks and defining future strategies that promote innovative workflows, data-driven insights, and enhanced capabilities to optimize technology, business, and product outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating the governance of portfolio transformation initiatives aimed at continuously optimizing processes, tools, and insights for effective management of the technology portfolio.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of a multi-year transformation roadmap to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Providing actionable insights to Technology and Business Leadership to manage delivery risks and optimize investments across various portfolios.
  • Utilizing reporting tools to track progress and compile insights for financial and capacity planning across a substantial technology investment portfolio.
  • Championing a consistent taxonomy, reporting, and metrics with Portfolio, Engineering, and Product leaders to enhance data integrity and drive informed decision-making.
  • Establishing a robust change management and feedback mechanism with Technology, Business, Product, and Finance partners to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Building strong partnerships with Tech Finance to collaborate on deliverables for forecasting and planning.
  • Engaging with Technology Portfolio leads to ensure transparency in actual costs while effectively communicating risks and opportunities.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in program management.
  • Proficiency in creating presentations that effectively convey messages and persuade stakeholders.
  • Experience in process design and automation, with a focus on enhancing effectiveness, quality, and compliance.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with tools and processes that drive technology portfolio and financial management.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Agile methodologies.

Preferred Skills

Ideal candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior leaders.
  • A track record of driving results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of technology investment planning and resource management.
  • An understanding of industry trends in Financial Services and the American Express business model.
  • An MBA is a plus.
