We are seeking a Research Associate 2 responsible for supporting the operations of the Oligonucleotide Core Center, providing oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, and analysis services for the diagnostics business unit of Hologic, which is located in San Diego, California.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct oligonucleotide purification and formulation utilizing denaturing gel electrophoresis (PAGE), chromatographic, reverse-phase cartridge, and similar purification techniques.
- Perform oligonucleotide synthesis and deprotection via phosphonamidite chemistry.
- Prepare PAGE gels, buffers, and daily consumables in support of personal and team goals.
- Execute moderately complex experiments, including providing input on experimental design, analysis and interpretation of data, communication of results, and input on follow-up experiments.
- Interact with peers and supervisors, both within the team as well as with other teams, to provide experimental summaries, design input, and ancillary team functions.
- Maintain clearly written experimental records in both written and electronic formats.
- Familiar with standard software tools utilized in instrument control, data analysis, and reporting results.Education and Experience
- A degree in chemistry, biochemistry or biology is required (M.S. with 0-1+ years or B.S. with 1-3+ years of practical laboratory experience) The annualized base salary range for this hourly role is $55, ,700 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand. Why Hologic?
