POSITION TITLE: Postdoctoral Associate
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Department of Neuroscience at Scripps Research is seeking talented individuals for Postdoctoral Associate roles within the innovative lab led by Dr. Chen Ran. Our research focuses on elucidating the neural mechanisms underlying interoception—the process by which the brain interprets signals from internal organs to form our internal experiences. Utilizing advanced techniques such as in vivo functional imaging, electrophysiological recordings, and computational analysis, our lab aims to decode how the nervous system processes various stimuli, contributing to our understanding of sensations like hunger, nausea, and visceral pain. The outcomes of our research are expected to pave the way for novel therapeutic strategies addressing a range of health conditions.
The Ran lab, along with the Doris Neurosciences Center, fosters a dynamic and collaborative research atmosphere. The lifestyle in our region is exceptional, characterized by a mild climate and proximity to diverse natural landscapes. Successful candidates will be expected to engage in data presentations, manuscript preparation, mentorship of junior team members, and seek external funding opportunities. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree, with consideration given to those nearing completion with appropriate approval. Ideal candidates will possess a strong foundation in neurobiology, cellular and molecular biology, or related fields. Expertise in areas such as microscopy, physiology, systems neuroscience, and optogenetics is highly desirable.
COMPENSATION:
Postdoctoral Associates will receive compensation in accordance with established guidelines, with a starting salary range reflective of experience and qualifications.
