Position Overview

This role involves working under the guidance of the Principal Investigator as a Psychiatry Research Associate within the College Mental Health Program. The incumbent will engage in a significant mental health prevention screener research project in collaboration with the International Students & Programs Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with participants and secure informed consent.
  • Act as a liaison between study participants and their healthcare providers.
  • Collect and analyze data, schedule, and conduct clinical interviews.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and review relevant literature.
  • Communicate effectively with the research office and provide health coaching as needed.
  • Maintain research documentation, including forms and participant tracking systems.
  • Coordinate with laboratories and manage supply orders.
  • Participate actively in research meetings and assist with administrative tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge in Psychiatry, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of psychosocial development in transitional age youth.
  • Ability to identify and articulate initial symptoms of major mental health issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and capability to implement structured psychosocial interventions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for professional interactions.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers and software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
  • Experience in participant recruitment and eligibility assessment for research studies.
  • Experience in delivering electronic cognitive behavioral therapy sessions.
  • Ability to evaluate participant risks in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a related field.

Special Conditions

Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical examination. Flexibility in work hours, including early mornings and evenings, is required.
