POSITION TITLE: Postdoctoral Associate POSITION SUMMARY:

We are in search of a driven Postdoctoral Associate to spearhead an independent research project. The ideal candidate will engage in various advanced techniques including mammalian cell culture, in vivo mouse experimentation, genetic screening, quantitative TMT mass spectrometry proteomics, metabolomics, western blotting, pulldown assays, DNA cloning, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, high-throughput screening, and bioinformatics data analysis. Emphasis will be placed on the professional growth of the Postdoctoral Associate, with detailed discussions regarding the project to occur during the interview process.

Lab Project Overview: To maintain physiological balance, organisms depend on intricate internal signaling networks that regulate responses across diverse tissues and organs. Notably, disturbances in one tissue can trigger secreted signals that communicate vital information to other tissues, which are crucial for sustaining health and longevity. Secreted proteins play a pivotal role in interorgan signaling, coordinating organ functions through long-distance communication. Disruption of these signaling networks, essential for orchestrating physiological responses, contributes to age-related diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and chronic inflammation. Despite their significance, the composition and functionality of interorgan communication networks and their influence on aging and disease remain inadequately understood. The Droujinine Lab has pioneered innovative methodologies to identify and characterize novel secreted factors that regulate organ functions in both homeostasis and disease within mammalian systems. Our approach employs proteomics and in vivo functional genomic screens to elucidate the secreted proteins and cellular pathways involved in homeostasis, obesity, and aging.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • PhD in biology, physiology, neuroscience, chemical biology, biological engineering, or a related field. Candidates nearing thesis defense are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with the biological techniques mentioned in the position summary is highly preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong motivation and independence in reviewing scientific literature and conducting experiments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role involves working in a laboratory or vivarium setting. Specific details regarding the physical demands of essential functions for this position will be discussed during the interview process.

COMPENSATION: Postdoctoral Associates will be compensated in accordance with the National Institute of Health and California's exempt salary guidelines, with a starting range of $68,000 - $73,230. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
