This is a Stanford Blood Center job.

A Brief Overview

The SBC Laboratory Technician I receives, manufactures, prepares, labels, packs and ships blood components to SBC customers; performing a variety of clerical duties and participating in training and ad-hoc projects as directed.

What you will do

  • Receive, triage, centrifuge, separate, and leukoreduce (where applicable) whole blood, and apheresis products, entering all results in the relevant electronic software system.
  • Manufacture transfusable blood by-products, including (but not limited to) cryoprecipitate, red blood cells, plasma, platelets, buffy coats, LRS chambers, tubes, etc.
  • • Prepare products for shipment, which includes irradiation, labeling, packing, boxing and shipping.
    • Maintain and monitor temperature control on equipment/appliances.
    • Monitor post donation information and transfusion reactions from donors for entry in the relevant electronic software system.
    • Open, maintain, clean, and close the laboratory as directed by Supervisor.
    • Perform on-call duty after hours or on holidays on a rotating schedule as directed by Supervisor.
    • May be required to deliver blood products to local hospitals as required.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by Supervisors, including document creation and control, review documents, training of co-workers, and other ad-hoc projects.
  • Perform product and equipment Quality Control (QC) as directed

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Experience Qualifications

  • 1 year of relevant laboratory experience required.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $ $44.08 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
