Position Overview

This section outlines the primary responsibilities and objectives of the role.

With minimal oversight, the Certified Neurodiagnostic Technician conducts advanced neurodiagnostic assessments across various settings, including specialized labs and operating rooms. Responsibilities include monitoring multi-modality studies during procedures, performing Long-Term Monitoring for epilepsy with both scalp and intracranial electrodes, and executing standard EEG and Evoked Potential recordings in clinical environments. The position requires participation in a weekend rotation schedule and evening on-call duties.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities listed below are typical of those expected in this job classification. They are not exhaustive and may include additional tasks as assigned.

All employees must adhere to Joint Commission standards, which encompass cultural sensitivity, patient rights, ethical treatment, safety protocols, and effective communication.

Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting Nerve Conduction Studies, including Sensory and Motor conductions, F-Wave measurements, and H-Reflex studies, and assisting physicians with EMG testing.
  • Executing complex multi-modality Intraoperative Neuromonitoring studies, such as EEG, EMG, and Evoked Potentials during various surgical procedures.
  • Performing cortical stimulation and functional mapping studies to identify sensorimotor and language areas.
  • Administering cranial nerve stimulation during surgical interventions.
  • Conducting EEG recordings during specific testing procedures and performing Electrocorticography (ECOG) intraoperatively.
  • Managing Long-Term Monitoring for epilepsy with scalp and intracranial electrodes.
  • Implementing Motor Evoked Potentials during intricate surgical operations.
  • Carrying out standard EEGs and all Evoked Potential modalities in both laboratory and patient care settings.
  • Performing Transcranial Doppler Studies (TCD) in various clinical environments.
  • Programming and maintaining computerized Event Detection systems for identifying potential epileptic activity.
Qualifications

A combination of education and experience that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with any required licenses or certifications, is acceptable.

Education: Completion of an Electroneurodiagnostic technology program accredited by the relevant educational authority or equivalent training approved by the Medical Director.

Experience: A minimum of eighteen (18) months of relevant and progressively responsible experience.

License/Certification: Registration by the American Board of Registration of EEG and EP Technologists (ABRET) in one or more of the following:

-Electroencephalography (EEG), and/or

-Evoked Potentials (EP), and/or

-Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM), or

-Credential from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technicians (BRPT) as Registered Polysomnographic Technicians (RPST).

  • Understanding of electrical safety as it pertains to neurodiagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and software relevant to the field.
  • Expertise in various electrode application techniques.
  • Knowledge of neuroanesthesia agents and their use in intraoperative monitoring.
  • Skill in END pattern recognition to provide clinical insights to the medical team.
  • Strong technical aptitude.

Compensation

Salary is determined based on the role's requirements and level. Factors influencing salary may include education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and internal equity. Typically, new hires start within the minimum to mid-range salary bracket.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $135,283.20 to $153,420.80
