Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director of Machine Learning, as the Director of Machine Learning, you will lead a team in the design, analysis, and delivery of data-driven solutions, addressing significant business challenges across multiple programs of work. You will be responsible for creating the strategic vision and execution of ML-driven technical solutions to enhance the user experience and achieve quantifiable goals on our platform.

Your role merges technical skills with strategic leadership in the most recent NLP and ML technologies. Our team culture fosters collaboration, mutual support, and continuous learning. You will offer strategic direction, technical guidance, and mentorship to the team and other internal partners. We value an agile, hands-on, and technical approach at all team levels.

This West Coast-based hybrid role will require travel to Autodesk's HQ in San Francisco and travel will be approximately 10% in North America.

The DXC-ML Team, at Autodesk, is committed to providing machine learning enhancements that improve customer experience in Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success sectors. Our primary aim is to boost business outcomes and revenue through groundbreaking ML solutions.

We focus on optimizing e-commerce through sophisticated techniques in conversion, segmentation, and behavior targeting. We strive to increase customer satisfaction by enabling our users to achieve superior results while increasing revenue. Through complex models, we personalize customer journeys, segment users based on behavior patterns, and implement targeted marketing strategies. Our work scope encompasses predicting customer purchasing behavior, designing dynamic content for personalized shopping experiences, and assessing the effect of these optimizations on sales and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement a strategic vision for ML applications in e-commerce, ensuring technical efforts align with our objectives.
  • Lead the creation and development of advanced ML models and algorithms to address e-commerce optimization challenges.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of ML projects, from initial data analysis and model creation to deployment and performance monitoring.
  • Offer strategic leadership and technical direction to a team of ML engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Collaborate with diverse internal partner teams to ensure smooth delivery of ML-driven solutions.
  • Promote and implement agile, hands-on approaches in project execution.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and techniques in Machine Learning, driving continuous improvement of our ML practices.
  • Convey complex technical concepts and project progress to both technical and non-technical internal partners.
  • Establish testing and validation frameworks to ensure the accuracy and scalability of ML models in production.
  • Create an environment that encourages innovative thinking and exploration of new ideas in Machine Learning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role within the ML engineering space, preferably with e-commerce and digital marketing focus.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce and digital marketing principles.
  • Experience with causal inference methods in e-commerce settings.
  • Experience developing models for behavior targeting to enhance customer experiences.
  • Experience designing and conducting experiments to validate ML models and strategies.
  • Experience with data pipelines and model serving in AWS, including MLOps practices.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $201,300 and $325,600. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
