Position Summary:
This role is integral to the Budget Director and plays a crucial part in fulfilling the agency's mission by delivering comprehensive budgetary and analytical support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and oversee the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of assigned programs and cost centers, performing detailed analyses on various budget-related matters.
2. Prepare and submit initial and ongoing operating budget allotments for approval using the statewide Allotment System.
3. Develop and maintain expenditure reports for assigned programs, ensuring clarity and accessibility for management and legislative review.
4. Evaluate position action requests based on established spending plans and available funding.
5. Analyze proposed legislation for fiscal impact and prepare detailed fiscal notes and narrative statements.
6. Provide ongoing support for the Budget SharePoint page, ensuring timely updates.
7. Conduct on-site evaluations of parks, requiring travel to a significant number of park locations throughout the year.
8. Assist with fleet management activities as needed.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:
- A Master's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, public administration, or a related field.
- A Bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields along with two years of relevant experience.
- An Associate's degree in a related field accompanied by four years of relevant experience.
- Six years of relevant experience.
Additional Requirements:
Possession of a valid unrestricted driver's license is necessary.
Desired Skills:
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, public administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Familiarity with Washington State government accounting and budget processes.
- Experience with state accounting and budget systems.
- Ability to communicate complex issues effectively to a non-technical audience.
