About the Role

The Washington State Department of Revenue is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Administrative Review Program Coordinator. This role is a critical part of the Department's mission to ensure the fair and efficient collection of taxes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolving complex cases and overseeing executive-level cases
  • Developing and providing training to staff on tax policy and procedures
  • Fostering strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Overseeing the publication of Washington Tax Decisions
  • Reviewing and approving drafts of significant determinations
  • Leading the Washington Tax Decision publication process
  • Making recommendations to Executive management on tax policy matters
  • Acting as the Director's designee on cases granted executive-level review
  • Leading ARHD's training efforts on tax policy and procedures

Requirements

  • Admission to practice law in Washington or graduation from an accredited school of law and current admission to practice before the highest court of a state, District of Columbia, or federally recognized tribe
  • Four years of experience as a Tax Policy Specialist 4 or comparable experience as a governmental attorney or private attorney practicing in Washington excise taxes
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and fostering an inclusive and culturally humble environment for all individuals
  • Knowledge of the laws administered by the Department of Revenue
  • Knowledge of the principles of effective quality management
  • Ability to organize, motivate, lead, and train professional personnel
  • Effective leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply the law
  • Ability to make decisions promptly, fairly, and impartially
