As part of a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of professionals, the Senior Policy Advisor will conduct applied research on policy issues affecting financial markets. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced leader or expert from industry, academia, or a regulatory environment to produce high quality, impactful work directly connected to the responsibilities of the Federal Reserve. We are part of the Research, Policy, and Public Engagement function.
Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic direction of the team. Collaborate with senior leadership in the department and at the Bank to identify emerging issues and set research priorities.
  • Proactively advance a policy research agenda consistent with the strategic direction of the team. Generate high-quality, self-directed policy analysis in support of Bank objectives related to financial policy and financial stability.
  • Advise Reserve Bank President, other senior Bank leaders, and other policymakers on matters related to your area of expertise through written analysis and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with financial industry leaders, focused on market makers, exchanges, and clearinghouses.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships that include a global network of stakeholders to advance Bank-level objectives.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Contribute to a highly collegial and collaborative work environment.


Your background

  • Nationally recognized expert in your field.
  • Advanced degree in finance, economics, business, law, public policy, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of experience as an industry participant, regulator, policy researcher, or academic scholar
  • Commitment to public service.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality research that can range from academic papers to policy papers and blogs.
  • Engages effectively with experts from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including industry experts, technology experts, economists, and public policy professionals.
  • Experience with public speaking.

  • Travel approximately up to 10%
  • This position requires access to confidential supervisory information and/or FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law.
