STATUS: Full time / Exempt

LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid: 2 days/week on-site, 3 days/week remote)

POSITION SUMMARY

We are in search of a proficient Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to become a vital member of our Nursing Regulation team. The selected candidate will contribute significantly by offering expert advisory support in the execution of regulatory initiatives, programs, and services pertinent to nursing practice and advanced practice nursing.

Reporting directly to the Chief Officer of Nursing Regulation, the Senior Policy Advisor will cultivate relationships with members, coalitions, and various stakeholders to effectively navigate regulatory and policy challenges. This position presents an exciting opportunity for a skilled APRN eager to join an organization dedicated to enhancing nursing regulation and policy on a global scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership on matters related to nursing practice and APRN issues, fostering relationships with members, coalitions, and stakeholders to effectively address regulatory and policy challenges.
  • Engage in Nursing Regulation team projects focused on nursing practice and APRNs.
  • Collaborate with NCSBN's legislative team to advocate for the passage of APRN Consensus and APRN Compact legislation, developing necessary legislative resources and strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and resource for nursing practice and APRNs, responding to inquiries, delivering presentations, and keeping members informed of state and national practice and APRN issues.
  • Represent NCSBN at external meetings, providing presentations and contributing regulatory insights to discussions.
  • Lead the APRN Roundtable and support committees as required, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Nursing Regulation division and the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active APRN license required.
  • Master's degree or higher required, along with five years of clinical nursing, education, and/or regulatory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity involving policy or regulation, as well as nursing publications, is essential.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, customer service, problem-solving, and leadership skills are required.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a collaborative environment, emphasizing flexibility in tasks. Experience in program development and/or project management is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel and engage in public speaking on outreach services related to nursing issues.
