Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is work providing practical nursing services to clients in the Leon County Health Department under the supervision of the licensed clinician and/or registered nurse.

Provide practical nursing services for clients including interview, counsel, obtain histories, administer medication within the scope of practice, and provide follow-up care. Evaluate immunization status and vaccinate appropriately. Interpret clinician's orders to clients and/or care giver and give health care instructions under the direction of the licensed clinician and/or registered nurse. Assist clinicians in exam rooms, collect specimens, perform laboratory tests, and conduct screening tests.

Performs timely and accurate documentation in the manual/electronic health record. Monitors and conducts client follow-up for abnormal results by following policies and procedures as assigned programs such as HIV, STD, and Family Planning.

Assist in the maintenance of clinic equipment and provision of a safe and clean environment in the clinic area.

Assist in maintenance of inventory and stocking of supplies in a fiscally responsible manner.

Maintain and submit required clinical and administrative forms (EAR's, People First, Emergency Response and

Travel)

Attend in-service, staff meetings and professional education programs to enhance professional/ clinical knowledge. Participates in team-based health care and supports other team members to care for the clients; facilitates the agency mission, and goals of the department.

Perform other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic computer skills, Windows, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Health Management System (HMS), Employee Activity Record (EARS), People First. Knowledge of basic medical terminology, pharmaceutical terminology & calculations, skill in using medical instruments or testing equipment, ability to interview clients sand obtain a complete medical history, ability to keep accurate records, follow effectively and establish & maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum - Licensure as a practical nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464
