TMH is recognized as the leading healthcare provider in the area, offering exceptional care through a 772-bed acute care facility and specialized services, including a Level II Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, and innovative programs in oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, and surgical services. Additionally, we operate a psychiatric hospital, various specialty care centers, four residency programs, and close to 40 affiliated physician practices.
Position Summary:
- The Charge Nurse is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures within the surgical suite.
- Assigns tasks and oversees support personnel according to their training and competencies.
- Plays a vital role in providing exemplary healthcare services.
- Assumes direct and indirect accountability for fostering a supportive patient care atmosphere.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team and independently implements the nursing process to provide care.
- Serves as a leader, mentor, and role model for colleagues.
- Coordinates and delegates care while ensuring a safe, secure, and hygienic environment.
- Upholds patient rights, dignity, values, confidentiality, and individual needs.
- Employs evidence-based practices and technology to enhance patient comfort, pain management, and anxiety reduction.
- Functions within the guidelines established by the Department of Nursing and the Florida Nurse Practice Act.
- Complies with all policies and procedures of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Inc. (TMH).
- Demonstrates commitment to TMH's mission and values, particularly the ICARE principles (integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence).

- Reports to the RN/Nurse Manager

- Nurse Extern
- Licensed Practical Nurse
- Psych Center Specialty Technician
- Unit Secretary
- Patient Care Assistant
- Certified Nursing Assistant
Qualifications:
- Required Education: Associate degree in nursing.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- Required Experience: None.
- Preferred Experience: Two (2) or more years of RN experience. One (1) or more years in the operating room (5 years preferred).
- Required Certification/License/Registry: Licensed as an RN in accordance with Florida's Nurse Practice Act. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an accredited American Heart Association (AHA) instructor. Additional specialized life support certifications as required by the work area.
- Work Schedule: Wednesday/Thursday/Friday, 7pm-7am
