Portland, Oregon, United States Schoolhouse Supplies Full time

DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

Since 1999, the Schoolhouse Supplies mission has remained the same: to support public education by providing free school supplies to underserved students.

We do this because we believe that every child deserves school supplies and has the right to a quality education regardless of their family's income or racial/ethnic identity.

The program delivery model achieves additional goals through community engagement and by keeping supplies out of the waste stream.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is perfect for a dynamic self-starter who is passionate about supporting the mission and programs of a charitable organization like Schoolhouse Supplies and is seeking to grow or shift their professional career by stepping into a nonprofit management role.

The Development Manager manages the operation of resource development activities:

establishing and growing meaningful relationships with individual, corporate and foundation donors, coordinating data and deadlines, and serving as the point person for the Schoolhouse Supplies donor database platform and fundraising systems and protocols.

You would be a great candidate if you have experience in a nonprofit fundraising department or have held positions that used similar skills in other nonprofit or for-profit professional departments (like marketing, project management or sales).

This position is supported by seasonal staff, interns, volunteers, and contractors when needed. Design and mail house resources are also available.

The ideal candidate 1) is detail oriented, 2) has strong written and phone communication skills, 3) uses databases and other office technologies to optimize work productivity, 4) likes managing multiple projects, 5) successfully meets multiple concurrent deadlines, 6) enjoys working with team input, 6) has a sense of humor, and 7) is willing to pitch in on tasks small and large.
