How will you make an impact?

The Presales Support Specialist is a valued resource to both our internal and external customers. This Specialist will assist with selection and configuration of Laboratory equipment, as well as accessories and consumables, providing working solutions for our customers. A diverse range of skills and talents will be effective for this role- including sales or hands-on experience with laboratory equipment as well as familiarity with a broad range of scientific applications and terminologies.

What will you do?

  • Apply knowledge of laboratory products, scientific applications, and workflows to recommend equipment and instruments that provide a complete solution for end users and sales representatives.
  • Provide resourceful expertise as the first level of contact for our end-users and our channel partners through inbound sales calls: NO cold calling
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain/upgrade an existing database of product information, as well as collect any new information as it becomes available
  • Use discretion and autonomy to efficiently prioritize and maintain an email case queue for incoming inquiries
  • Be familiar with channel marketing and list and channel pricing in both the US and Canada
  • Understand market position of our products
  • Understand the accessories, consumables and software used with Thermo Fisher Scientific equipment and how the customer can acquire the related items
  • Use SFDC for tracking of customer contacts, leads, and quote opportunities
  • Understand appropriate hand offs to outside sales, field service and customer service
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental entities, including Customer Service, Technical Support and Product/Commercial Management, to assist in finding resolutions for callers

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Life Science field preferred

Experience

  • Prior Sales Experience is desired, including familiarity with selling processes or prior experience selling life science equipment
  • Familiar with a call-center environment
  • Ideal candidate will have ability to positively and proactively balance multiple tasks under time restraints and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • First-hand experience and/or familiarity with operation of various laboratory equipment preferred
  • Proficient in basic scientific methods and theories; Conversant in diverse scientific applications
  • Outstanding analytical capability and problem solving skills
  • Experienced telephone selling skills, or related customer service experience
  • Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation) skills and ability to interact efficiently and informatively
  • Substantiated capability to support customers and collaborate with end-users, channel partners and external sales representatives
  • Ability to work cohesively to meet company goals and objectives
  • Intuitive ability to learn on the job and research unfamiliar applications
  • Proficient in digital literacy, including navigational skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Sharepoint;
  • Adaptivity to innovative digital resources such as AI and Digital Sales Platforms; preferred experience with CRM Software such as Salesforce
  • Ability to reflect positivity and maintain integrity during increased volume or high-stress interactions
