About the Role The Office of Financial Assistance seeks an Assistant Director for Systems. This position provides support to the operations and systems area of the office. This role works on resolving problems to complete application requirements for federal and university aid. The Assistant Director for Systems plays a critical role in University quality assurance projects, systems testing, problem resolution, and maintaining the PowerFAIDS awarding packaging system. This position may work up to two days remotely. This role will work evenings and weekends during high volume times of the year. The Assistant Director for Awarding works closely with the Awarding team within Financial Assistance, Enrollment Service Operations, Admissions, and the International Student & Scholars Office. This role collaborates with state and federal agencies to ensure compliance. This position works with the Department of Education and Department of Homeland Security.

The Assistant Director's primary duties include:
Assisting in testing system functionality, including the accuracy of the need analysis calculation of both Federal and Institutional Methodology;
Troubleshooting tax errors;
Training staff on translating and processing foreign tax returns;
Updating PowerFAIDS documentation and;
Representing the Office of Financial Assistance at recruitment activities.

About the Organization

Boston University Financial Assistance is part of the Enrollment & Student Administration unit (ENSA). BU Financial Assistance plays a critical role in ENSA's mission; enrolling and retaining students, securing external funding and generating tuition revenue through strategic discounting. BU Financial Assistance provides important services through timely and accurate review of financial aid applications, awarding of financial aid funds, processing of loans, and by providing counseling to students and parents on the financial aid process, programs and related issues.
