Job Description

Financial Operations Assistant Manager

This role is designed to assist the Controller in delivering ongoing leadership and support in financial operations. The position involves contributing to the preparation of precise and timely financial reports, supervising daily activities within the Accounting Department, and ensuring that internal control procedures are effectively implemented to protect the assets of owners and investors while adhering to all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial controls and accounting practices, ensuring compliance with established policies and accounting principles.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Finance to manage client relationships and respond effectively to the needs of the management team.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing profitability and encourage the creation of exception reports and analyses to track progress.
  • Manage statutory account requirements and liaise with external auditors on behalf of the Director of Finance.
  • Support the Director of Finance and General Manager with any additional tasks as required.
  • Supervise and mentor team members to optimize profitability and enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Ensure accurate posting of transactions to the general ledger, including monthly accruals.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
  • Collaborate with Department Heads to maintain accurate inventory records and participate in monthly inventory assessments.
  • Assist in reconciling all accounts and preparing monthly financial statements.
  • Oversee daily banking activities and assist in training new team members.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
  • Support the Director of Finance with various daily operational tasks.
  • Participate in month-end closing activities by preparing journal entries as directed.
  • Manage Income Audit and daily cash handling responsibilities.
  • Update subsidiary ledgers for prepaid expenses, inventory, and utilities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain high performance standards and foster positive customer interactions.

Organizational Structure:
The Financial Operations Assistant Manager will report directly to the Director of Finance. The positions of Accounting Manager, General Accountant, Income Auditor, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll Master will report to the Financial Operations Assistant Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Management.
  • Two to five years of experience in Assistant Controller or Controller roles within Hospitality Accounting.
  • Proficient in Windows-based software applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
  • Effective prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong management, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
