Position Summary

The Legal Research and Writing (LRW) Program Manager coordinates the work of one of the law school's core units, which has been ranked #1 nationally for four years. Working closely with the faculty director, the program manager is the linchpin for LRW faculty, peer tutors, and student assistants. With faculty colleagues, the program manager organizes, plans, implements, and evaluates LRW programs, projects, and ongoing operations. The position plays a key role in planning the annual visit of the Oregon Supreme Court. As the hub of the LRW workflow, the program manager's duties include financial administration, organizing event logistics, supporting educational programs, doing outreach, and managing HR aspects of student workers. The program manager provides executive assistance and administrative support to a collegial faculty cohort, in part by supervising the work of highly professional student assistants.

This position is FTE and reports to the LRW Faculty Director.

Minimum Requirements


• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

• Three years of experience in a higher education, non-profit, corporate, or similar environment, supporting a program or operation OR the equivalent combination of a related professional degree along with demonstrated project management, administrative, and executive support capabilities.

• Two years of experience in program management or high-level program coordination.

• Ability to independently prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.

• Experience managing complex projects with excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty from culturally diverse backgrounds and with multiple intersectional identities; and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the university community.

• Proficiency with Outlook and Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and survey instruments. Proficient with mainstream office equipment.

• Understanding of technology used to advance communications goals, create website updates, and perform internet research.

Preferred Qualifications


• Either knowledge of writing programs or ability to gain deep knowledge quickly; prior experience with a writing program (including as a student).

• Experience working in a legal environment (law firm, law department, law school), with a general understanding of the legal system.

• General understanding of a law school.

• Experience in program management or high-level program coordination.
