The Workplace Violence Program Coordinator directs the clinical aspects of the Workplace Violence Prevention Program across the VA SORCC System.

The WVPP Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of VHA initiatives, specifically:

Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB), Employee Threat Assessment Team (ETAT), Disruptive Behavior Committee (DBC), Disruptive Behavior Reporting System (DBRS).

The Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP) Specialist facilitates the implementation of violence prevention strategies at a local level through education, monitoring, and coordination activities.

FUNCTIONS OR SCOPE OF ASSIGNED DUTIES AND NOT LIMITED TO:
The incumbent plans, develops, implements and oversees all components of facility Workplace Violence Prevention programming.

The Coordinator is responsible for:
A. Management of the Workplace Violence Prevention Program for VA SORCC

  • Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB)a. Establishes continuity between PMDB and Disruptive Behavior Committee.
b. Obtains and maintains PMDB Certified Trainer status.
c. Consults with the PMDB training team to coordinate training of VA SORCC staff.
d.

Assists with identification and selection of PMDB Facility Trainers qualified to become Master Trainers and retention of sufficient Master Trainers to minimize costs of developing new Facility Trainers via Train The Trainer {TTT} courses.

e. Participation in national PMDB conference calls and trainings pertinent to the coordination of the program as time allows.

VA SORCC's Disruptive Behavior Committee:
(DBC)
a.

Leads the Team of Admin and Clinical Executives such as the Chief of Staff, Chief of Police, Regional Counsel, Patient Safety, Mental Health, to assess, triage and manage patient-generated disruptive behavior immediately.

b. Responsibility for overseeing the day to day business of the committee.
c.

Duties include obtaining data from the Disruptive Behavior Reporting System (DBRS), communicating with DBC members regarding meetings or other questions, preparing the monthly committee agendas and meeting minutes, and composing letters to patients for the Chief of Staff and DBC Chair to sign.

d. Assigns cases for DBC clinical members to review.
e. Providing or coordinating the follow-up of all decisions of business items at the monthly Committee meeting.
f.

In conjunction with the Deputy ACOS, Behavioral Health Service Line, responsible for the implementation, education, training and updates for local policy on Management of Disruptive Behavior.

g.

Responsible for the management of computer-based flagging systems for identifying risk of potentially violent or dangerous veteran patients, including annual review and maintaining a record of all patient flag reviews.

The incumbent will evaluate new requests for flags regarding dangerousness warning of patients.
h. Interface with VAPD.

Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, M-F

Pay:

Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave:

After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.


Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Insurance:
Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)

Telework:
Regular Teleworks 6+ Days/Per Pay Period. This Position will be 80% telework, and goes in to the office at most, once a week.
