Position Title: Social Work Program Director

Reports to: Chief Impact Officer

Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt

Overview: The United Way of Westchester and Putnam is seeking a passionate and skilled Social Work leader to enhance our impactful social service programs. The Social Work Program Director will be instrumental in executing and advancing our social work strategies across various community initiatives, including our after-school programs and the 211 Helpline. This role demands a dedicated individual with a robust background in social work, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a strong desire to uplift individuals and families facing challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Guidance: Offer supervision and mentorship to a team of social workers and interns. Conduct regular meetings for case discussions and ensure compliance with best practices and organizational policies.
  • Program Management: Direct the execution and assessment of social service initiatives. Evaluate program effectiveness, ensure adherence to funding stipulations, and identify opportunities for program enhancement.
  • Client Support: Provide direct assistance to clients dealing with intricate social and economic issues. Perform assessments, create service plans, and link clients to necessary resources and services.
  • Community Collaboration: Partner with local organizations, government entities, and stakeholders to improve service delivery and advocate for policy reforms that benefit our clientele.
  • Training and Education: Organize and lead training sessions for staff and volunteers. Stay updated on current trends and best practices in social work and share knowledge within the organization.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain precise client documentation, prepare reports for funders and stakeholders, and ensure adherence to confidentiality and regulatory standards.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the leadership team.

Requirements:

  • Standard office work environment
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Frequent local travel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Master's degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of experience in social work, including 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of social service systems, particularly local resources in Westchester and Putnam counties.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse populations and uphold a commitment to cultural competence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
