About Us:

At United Way, we believe that WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER and that through being UNITED, we can create meaningful change in the world.

In Westchester and Putnam, over 40% of households are living in poverty or are financially constrained, often referred to as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). These hardworking families face tough choices between essential needs, such as childcare and rent, or healthcare and transportation. They are vital contributors to our communities, yet they struggle to meet their basic financial obligations.

We achieve impactful results through three primary methods: by investing in programs with proven outcomes, providing direct services to the community (including our 211 Helpline and Education United Afterschool Program), and fostering collaborations with community stakeholders to innovate solutions to pressing challenges.

Our partnerships with numerous nonprofit organizations and government agencies allow us to positively impact hundreds of thousands of individuals each year.
