Tetra Tech is currently seeking a part-time, Environmental Scientist. This position may be remote from North Carolina.

Response, assessment, and evaluation services (RAES) are parts of a larger program addressing with abandoned mines. You will work with a team of scientists and engineers that are leading the industry and committed to supporting your skill development.

You will support the program in the following areas:

Perform Preliminary Site Assessments (PA), Site Inspections (SI), Expanded Site Inspections (ESI), and Removal Site Evaluations (RSE)/Remedial Investigation (RI). Evaluate the impacts of abandoned mines on human health and the environment. Work to identify and implement measures to resolve contamination in the environment. Learn and implement complex radiological monitoring techniques and site characterization studies. Support field work to conduct site assessments and corrective actions. Execute assignments that have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.QualificationsStrong engineering or science backgrounds. Excellent communication skills. Statistics background a plus. Geographic Information System (GIS) background a plus.Degree / CertificationsBS in engineering or physical science from an accredited college or university. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is a plus.Work Environment

This position requires roughly 20 -35% travel. The field work is anticipated to be in remote areas of Arizona and New Mexico. You must be able to:

Carry field equipment (35 to 40 pounds)Don personal protective gear as needed. Work outdoor during all seasons, both hot and cold.Walk on various terrains. Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
