Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Program Specialist to join our team at Durham County. The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing state rules and statutes related to on-site wastewater systems, conducting site evaluations, and monitoring existing systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce state rules and statutes related to on-site wastewater systems
  • Conduct site evaluations and monitoring of existing systems
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of activities
  • Perform related work as assigned
Requirements
  • Two years of experience at the Environmental Health Specialist level in a health department
  • Registered Environmental Health Specialist in North Carolina
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license with a three-year acceptable driving record
  • Current State authorization in on-site wastewater
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Environmental Health Specialist candidates with current State authorizations in wells and pools
  • ArcGIS skills
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish)
  • Registration as a Licensed Soil Scientist in North Carolina
