Human Resources Data Integrity Manager

Essential functions (job duties):

Job Purpose

Analyzes, monitors and maintains the accuracy, integrity and quality of data in the Human Resources database(s) for the Department of Human Resources within the Finance and Business Operations Division. Identifies and remedies data integrity issues and errors. Maintains a systematic approach to ensuring the accuracy of HR database tables and contributes to data enhancement projects. Works with other units in the division to coordinate data maintenance efforts. Reports to Director of Human Resources Analytics and Reporting.

Essential Functions

Maintains Human Resource records as directed, including deletions, additions and modifications. Processes data update requests from staff and employees. Assists the Director of Human Resources Analytics and Reporting in evaluating the availability, operational need, and return on investment of Human Resources data as well as the management of various data cleansing projects.

Assists in data repository conversions, system adjustments, and strategies. Prepares and processes data specifications for Human Resources database modules, prepares test plans, executes validation and performs other project-related work.

Provides overall leadership and direction to staff. Sets expectations & focus, assigns duties, delegates ‎‎responsibilities, evaluates activities, prepares performance ‎appraisals & professional development plans. Provides coaching, mentoring and teaching. Manages the ‎‎administrative process for assigned staff including hiring, ‎promotions, terminations, disciplinary procedures, and ‎and salary ‎‎adjustments. Provides ongoing performance feedback, goal setting, and development plans for staff. ‎‎‎Plans for future staffing needs. Provides timely communications to staff.

Compiles and analyzes data extracted from the department's database(s) and Operational Data Store to maintain data integrity, facilitate data hygiene projects and produce accurate reports. Analyzes data for integrity noncompliance based on university, division and department business rules, user input and best practices. Identifies and corrects structural and semantic data errors.

Executes protocols for routine updates of biographical data in the Human Resources database(s), including Cornerstone, PeopleAdmin and Banner. Establishes a protocol to track update requests and monitor completions. Monitors and reports on the progress of all ongoing data integrity projects.

Uploads modified records collected from external sources into the department's Human Resources database(s). Leads and participates in the department's Data Governance Task Force. Represents the Human Resources department on various data committees and user groups related to data integrity.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Accountability: Supervises associates below supervisory level.

Organizational Accountability: Manages sub-unit of a department.

Customer Accountability: Interfaces with customers inside the S/C/D.

Freedom to Act: Subject to general input from supervisor.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's degree.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years experience).

Preferred minimum of 5 or more years experience specifically with Ellucian Banner Human Resources/Payroll database management, records maintenance, SQL, and data cleaning, extraction and validation. Required experience with Human Resources systems software (preferably Banner) in a higher education or nonprofit environment. Requires a general understanding of, or interest in, Human Resources best practices and general operations. Also requires positive and collaborative professional philosophy, recognizing that this position is integral to the achievement of the goals and objectives of the Human Resources Department

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills a must.

Proficient in the use of complex administrative systems software, preferably in the Ellucian Banner higher education environment.

Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines. Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to evaluate, interpret, and present complex information effectively in professionally prepared documents or presentations. Must possess a demonstrated attention to detail in order to achieve a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues within the department, division and central units; ability to produce high quality and consistent results with assistance of team members; provide support to teammates when tackling complex projects.

Independent and innovative self-starter who displays an ability to learn quickly and easily adapts to changing situations. Experience researching topics to gain knowledge and understanding when information gaps exist.

Requires a high level of commitment and enthusiasm. The incumbent must be willing to work extended hours as needed.
