Position Overview:
We are looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse specializing in Behavioral Health to join our dedicated team at Prime Healthcare. This role, also known as an Acute Psych LPN, is essential in providing high-quality care in a clinical environment. The Behavioral Health LPN is responsible for evaluating mental health requirements, formulating nursing strategies, administering psychiatric medications, and delivering therapeutic interventions. These professionals collaborate closely with patients to enhance their mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Evaluation: Perform comprehensive assessments to identify mental health needs and establish nursing diagnoses, including evaluating patients' mental health status based on their medical history, symptoms, and behavioral observations.
  • Care Strategy Development: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create personalized care plans, involving psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for any side effects or reactions.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide restorative care through individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
  • Patient and Family Education: Inform patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment strategies, including coping mechanisms and medication adherence.
  • Crisis Management: Address crises effectively, employing de-escalation techniques to ensure patient safety during behavioral emergencies.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of patient records.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Valid and current state LPN License.
  • IV Certification.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certification within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Behavioral Health or Geriatric Psychiatry.
