JOB OVERVIEW:

Equest's Finance and Human Resource Manager is charged with the responsibility of actively managing Equest's day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This includes monitoring, and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports, statements, and charts, as well as establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles. The FHR Manager is to monitor changes in legal, regulatory and administrative environments and implement changes in procedures as needed to maintain compliance while maximizing operational and financial results.

The FHR Manager will work closely with the department managers in producing grant reports and auditors in preparing information for the annual audit and 990. The FHR will spearhead the development of the annual budget in collaboration with the CEO and the department managers. The Finance HR Manager will develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of the organization.

DUTIES INCLUDE: (But not limited to)

Actively managing the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the agency

Managing accounting control systems ensuring the accurate and timely production of accounting information and financial reports.

Monitoring changes in legal, regulatory and administrative environments and implementing changes in procedures and needed to maintain compliance while maximizing operational and financial results.

Implementing and managing processes for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information to insure effective and efficient financial operations.

Managing payables and receivables

· Spearheading the annual budget processing and development, working with managers, CEO, and the Finance Committee to develop a practical and realistic budget for the upcoming year. Prepares budget revisions as needed.

· Ensuring records systems are maintained according to state and federal standards and regulations.

· Conducting analytical reviews of the QuickBooks financial reports and insuring preparation of reports for managers, CEO, and Board of Directors. Reports include:

o Departmental reports of budgets vs actuals for managers.

o Revenue and expenditure variance analysis

o Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet)

o Profit and Loss financials.

o Cash flow projections.

o Dashboard with key financial ratios that are significant to the entity.

Capital assets reconciliations.

Management statement

· In charge of bank reconciliations, and internal control procedures. Investigating odd/unusual accounts.

· Working with the CEO, ensure fixed asset inventory is kept and updated.

Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly and year-end close along with the timely reporting of all monthly financial information including Preparing, analyzing, and presenting monthly financial reports for board meetings, and for the department managers.

· Preparing quarterly reports for the City of Dallas as required.

Incorporating proper accounting methods, policies, and principles – GAAP

Coordinating with auditor and overseeing the completion of annual audits and completion of 990.

· Managing the preparation of government and grant reimbursement reports; track program expenses according to grant or funder requirements.

· Preparing financials for the annual report

· Providing oversight of general journal entries

· Assisting with tracking donor restricted contributions

Assisting with special event financial management and accounting.

Human Resources

· Directly responsible for all employee related activities:

· Maintains employee and contract staff files.

· Submits information for background checks of new employees and staff.

· Processes and tracks PTO requests.

· Maintains and updates employee handbook.

· Communicates to all employees when changes in HR processes and policies occur.

· Creates and/or updates policies in relationship to HR.

· Participates in disciplinary meetings as needed.

· Tracks employee hire dates, salaries and raises.

· Contributes to developing and maintaining a positive workplace culture.

· Reinforces the core values of Equest throughout the organization.

· Maintains the organizational chart.

· Records IT Equipment distribution including employee computer inventory.

· Maintains business files including contracts and transactions.

· Payroll processing

· 401(k) processing and paperwork

· Human Resource files

· Year-end payroll preparation for W-2's

· Upholding the vision, mission, and values of Equest as well as an attitude of philanthropy.

Adhering to all PATH International standards

Abiding by all regulations, policies, and procedures of the City of Dallas, as they pertain to the Texas Horse Park

Serving on committees as assigned.

Attending all staff and board meetings

Attending special events

· Maintaining financial security by establishing internal controls

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate must be extremely organized, skilled, and self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and with a diverse and productive team while displaying a positive attitude always. Working with deadlines and under pressure, as well as adhering to confidentiality are vital. A get-it done "attitude" and passion for excellence are necessary to fit into the Equest culture. Minimum BS or BBA in Accounting, Finance, or Related.

CPA a plus.

Proven track-record of finance management in non-profit accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Ability to create and assess financial statements and budgets.

Analytical mind and extremely accurate and detail oriented

High-level mathematical and problem-solving skills

Ability to communicate effectively.

Computer proficiency including Microsoft office, (word, excel, outlook), QuickBooks for Non-Profits and working knowledge of internet and web-based applications.
