Job Summary

The Student Assistant will support the Computer Science Department on the Armstrong Campus beginning Spring 2024.

St udent employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.


Responsibilities
  • Assists students with understanding course material
  • Assists with labs for lower level CSCI courses
  • Tutors students in multiple courses for both campuses (Zoom for Statesboro, remote as needed for Armstrong)
  • Checks style and formatting for CSCI assignments

Shift Specifics

  • Up to 20 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

  • Must have previously taken and received a passing grade in the following courses.
    • CSCI 1301 Programming Principles I
    • CSCI 1302 Programming Principles II
    • CSCI 2503 Survey of Programming Languages
    • CSCI 2625 Discrete Structures
    • CSCI 3236 Theoretical Foundations
    • CSCI 3341 Operating Systems
    • CSCI 3432 Database Systems

Proposed Salary

$10.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
