About the Position

The expected salary range for this role on hire is $57,907 to $81,721.

WHO WE ARE

Office of Community Use of Public Facilities (CUPF) - We work with community groups and individuals to plan for, and issue permits for, use of space for events and programs in public schools, ball fields, libraries, Silver Spring Civic Building, and other government facilities located in the County. In addition, we also work with schools to assist them in selecting a licensed childcare provider for their students.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

CUPF is seeking a Program Specialist I (Event Monitor). This position will support customers hosting a wide array of activities by groups holding public, private, and non-profit events in the Silver Spring Civic Building and/or Veterans Plaza and will provide direct service to the permitted user/organizer, any event supplier employed by the user, and the public to facilitate safe use of the facility.

These events (private celebrations, fundraisers, recognition ceremonies, conferences, festivals, etc.) will frequently require work between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. where alcohol may be served, and attendance may be 250 on the low end to 4,000 plus participants for major festivals. Event venues will be both inside and outside events depending on the season. Schedule will REQUIRE weekend work.

What You'll Be Doing

The successful candidate must have the ability to think analytically and communicate effectively. This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office. The work REQUIRES long periods of standing and/or walking, repeated bending, stooping or crouching; and some lifting of objects, such as folding tables, chairs, etc.

Oversee the activity to ensure compliance with the Facility Use License Agreement (FULA) and permit in order to facilitate safe use of the facilities

Event preparation and cleanup, such as setup and breakdown of chairs, tables, removing trash, monitoring restrooms for cleanliness, and troubleshooting technology issues with the goal of restoring the technology to good working order.

Operate specialized equipment, computers, tablets, and other technology to include the Audio-visual equipment.

Write comprehensive reports documenting the event to Silver Spring Civic Building Manager.

Exercise independent judgement without on-site supervision.

Provide direction for the work of contracted Building Service Worker(s), contracted Security Officers and other staff, volunteers or interns assigned to support the event.

Ability to use the scheduling/reservation database and become familiar with department policies and procedures.

To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with federal, state and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory trainings within the first three to six months or within the specified timeframe.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: One (1) year of professional experience in providing direct hospitality/customer service; working with community groups and/or directing the work of support staff.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences

Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are same grade or higher will be placed on Eligible List as a "Transfer" candidate and may be considered for interview.
