About Launch UC
Launch UC, the secondary enrollment partnership division of Enrollment Management at the University of Cincinnati, oversees programs such as College Credit Plus, Dual Enrollment, Early College, and Tech Prep.
Our Academic Advisors are secondary enrollment specialists and experts in assisting students as they navigate any one of the programs within Launch UC.
"The University of Cincinnati, Secondary Enrollment Partnership unit, Launch UC, is currently accepting applications for an Academic Advisor.
The primary function of this position is to provide academic advising, intervention, educational and course planning information, support services, and programming to middle and high school students applying to and enrolling in the University of Cincinnati Secondary Enrollment Partnership unit.
This position will report to the Director of Secondary Enrollment Partnerships.Job Overview
Advise current and prospective students about how to meet their educational, professional, and personal goals.
Essential Functions
- Provide academic advising to facilitate students' successful and timely educational planning and degree completion in alignment with their educational and career goals.
- Serve as advisor for a designated caseload of students through proactive outreach, support, and education.
- Monitor student progress and develop graduation plans in partnership with individual students.
- Evaluate student information and utilize data to facilitate enrollment and registration.
- Evaluate student needs and provide appropriate resource referral to career, academic, counseling, and student life resources and opportunities.
- Support students through educational transition processes (ex.
- Recommend actions related to academic alert, probation, suspension, and dismissal of students.
- Utilize current advising and student success technologies for outreach to students.
- Support student needs with sound equity and inclusion practices for student success.
- Engage ongoing professional development and training to maintain up to date knowledge about advising concepts, practices, policies, technologies, and student success needs at the university and in higher education.
- Function as a member of an advising or student success team to ensure the proper workflow and outcomes of the unit.
- Attend related meetings and functions.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
Zero (0) to one (1) year of student service or related experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Undergraduate student service and/or leadership may be considered.
- Occasional attendance at evening functions may be required.
- Familiarity, proficiency, and comfort with various technology and software systems is a plus.
- Detail oriented and strong interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.
- Must be able to retain a high volume of programmatic, college, and university related information while having the ability to critically think through complex situations.
- Employee must be able to work well both on a team and independently.
- Comfortability with speaking to an audience.
- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
