The Senior Director, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting plays a critical executive governance role leading corporate-wide technical accounting, external financial reporting and public disclosure functions. This is a greenfield opportunity to build from the ground up JenCare's technical accounting and SEC reporting capabilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support all areas of the company in negotiating and accounting for complex transactions.
  • Report to the Corporate Controller – lead policy implementations, technical analysis, SEC reporting process, and serve as a key relationship manager for the company's external auditor and with the SEC.
  • Lead SOX compliance efforts while driving operational excellence and establishing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Directly partner with corporate planning, treasury, investor relations, tax, equity compensation, and internal audit functions.
  • Facilitate communication with Executive Staff and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Lead corporate technical accounting team in the performance of research, the determination of financial reporting and disclosure impact, ensuring timely adoption of new accounting standards and preparation of technical accounting memos.
  • Be the 'leading edge' of new accounting pronouncements and training executives and Company personnel on changes and impact.
  • Lead SEC reporting process, including the preparation of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and others as needed. Serve as the primary interface between the company and the SEC on financial disclosure matters.
  • Lead accounting due diligence process on potential acquisitions. Assist with negotiations as required.
  • Lead accounting close for selected matters, including stock compensation expense, restructuring, and selected aspects of revenue recognition.
  • Manage updates to the Company's SOX compliance documentation: process flow mapping, risk control matrices, process narratives, testing key controls and monitoring compliance.
  • Ensure all key controls defined in the Company's SOX compliance program are identified, implemented, tested, and remediated to ensure compliance for annual attestation by the CFO and CEO.
  • Interact directly with controllership team members as well as key leadership in multiple functions across the finance function as well as business leaders.
  • Serve as a key relationship manager with the external auditors, including management of audit deliverables and fee negotiation.
  • Manage Audit Committee process, including agenda and materials preparation, and present selected key matters as required.
  • Develop strong cross-functional relationships and serve as a key business partner during the negotiation of transactions to ensure desired accounting outcomes.
  • Run the Company's Technical Review Committee as a forum for formulating accounting positions in a team environment, training team members, and developing execution plans.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting or equivalent relevant experience required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressive professional accounting and managerial experience are required
  • CPA and public accounting experience required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, COSO, PCAOB Auditing Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, risk and controls standards and business process best practices
  • Healthcare disclosure experience strongly preferred
  • Position based in Chicago corporate office
