Position Overview
CNA is in search of a seasoned Accounting Consultant to become a vital part of the Accounting Policy Team. This team is tasked with ensuring that the Company's accounting policies and practices comply with current US GAAP, IFRS, and Statutory standards, while aligning with SEC regulations and industry norms.

The Accounting Policy Team supports senior leadership and various functional areas by researching and interpreting accounting guidance, consulting on intricate transactions, and preparing technical accounting documentation. The ideal candidate will possess a background in accounting policy research or insurance accounting, coupled with exceptional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an advisor to the business, leading the accounting analysis of complex and non-routine transactions.
- Contribute accounting policy expertise to large, cross-functional projects, ensuring appropriate application of accounting and regulatory guidance.
- Monitor developments in accounting or technical guidance from standard setters and regulatory agencies to stay informed on emerging issues.
- Educate stakeholders on key takeaways regarding emerging accounting issues.
- Provide accounting analysis, interpretation, and advice to leadership to resolve technical challenges; draft and review technical accounting documentation.
- Collaborate with external auditors during the review of technical accounting documentation.
- Continuously evaluate policies and procedures, implementing process improvements as necessary.
- Manage additional accounting and finance special projects as required.

Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and Statutory accounting principles.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with personnel at all levels and explaining complex technical accounting issues.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment and make informed recommendations to management.
- Proficient in prioritizing and managing multiple projects effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deconstruct complex issues and drive toward resolution.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- Typically requires 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in accounting.
- Previous experience in audit at a public accounting firm, within the insurance sector, or in an accounting policy research capacity is advantageous.
