Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States The Crefeld School Full time

The Crefeld School seeks an experienced Dean of Students to begin Summer 2024 for the school year.

The Crefeld School's mission is to graduate self aware, empathetic, lifelong learners, who possess an appreciation for diverse perspectives, their role in society, and their ability to act as agents of change. Located in Chestnut Hill, Crefeld is a gender inclusive, small-by-design school that provides an intentionally different college preparatory program to help students become their best selves.

The Crefeld School, serving 90 students in grades seven through twelve, is seeking a Dean of Students. The Dean reports directly to the Head of School; serves on the administrative leadership team; is responsible for the handling of all student disciplinary matters utilizing a restorative practices approach; and has broader responsibilities for institutional leadership. This is a 12-month administrative position; appointment begins Summer 2024.

Requirements include: seven or more years of experience working in a rigorous academic environment; a graduate degree (preferred) in an appropriate discipline; demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching; ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies; outstanding verbal and written communication skills; deep support for the school's mission; and an unrelenting love of learning. Experience with Blackbaud or similar student information management systems required.

The person we are seeking will embrace diversity, equity and social justice and will be able to model anti-racist and anti-sexist practices with both students and staff. They will understand the needs of LGBTQIA+ students, and they will seek to support the school as a restorative community. Training in, or knowledge of, trauma-informed care, and experience with neurodiverse populations is a plus.

Finally, successful candidates will be able to move easily into a strongly collegial professional environment, where collaboration, participation, creativity, and flexibility are highly prized attributes. Strong communication and organizational skills are vital. Competitive salary includes a robust benefits package including 403b retirement matching and employee wellness opportunities.
