The School District Of Philadelphia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher - Visually Impaired to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of visually impaired students, utilizing a range of instructional strategies and techniques to enhance their academic abilities.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine students' eligibility for services, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement IEPs that address their specific needs.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate vision goals into classroom activities, provide consultation and support, and ensure that students receive the necessary accommodations to succeed.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with new developments and techniques in vision impairment, and share knowledge with colleagues to enhance the overall quality of education provided to visually impaired students.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Preferred two (2) years of full-time, paid, professional experience working with students with blindness/visual impairment and multiple disabilities, and writing IEP goals.
- Certifications/Licenses: Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate to teach the Visually Impaired.
