Enterprise Data Governance & Platforms (EDGP) is part of the larger Enterprise Digital and Data Solutions (EDDS) organization. EDGP improves the customer experience and drives business growth through robust enterprise-wide data policies and governance and enabling a data-driven culture, while developing digital and data platforms that provide insightful customer relationships and allow users to leverage enterprise-wide data capabilities.

This role entails leading three critical functions in Enterprise Data Platforms Product team: 1) Lead Product Development our Next Gen Big Data on Public Cloud), 2) Responsible for Platform Governance for Amex Enterprise Data Platforms, and 3) Develop scalable solutions for new and existing products. Gather product requirements for Next Gen Big Data Platform on Public Cloud based on current state of Big Data Ecosystem and future enterprise needs. Translate requirements into executable roadmaps for prioritization and delivery across multiple scrum teams. Partner with platform enablement team, design team, operational excellence team, dependent stakeholder line teams, technology leaders, and other key partners to understand and articulate business needs into a well-defined requirements, roadmap, and outcomes. Work closely with the technology team to develop the best-in-class architecture that delivers high availability (100%), millisecond performance, and high quality software on a modern stack using high compute, in-memory databases, scalable on external cloud. Identify and manage program blocking issues, provide escalation management, anticipate, and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical or operational constraints. Develop, improve, or transform existing processes to support product(s) development with an aim towards operational excellence. Serve as the internal and external subject matter expert for products. Key Responsibilities: Define and own the end-to-end roadmap for core features and processes for Next Gen Big Data Platform including Data Ingestion, Data Security, Metadata Data Management (MDM), Access Management, Next Gen Portal, and other capabilities.Define product vision and strategy for the above capabilities in close partnership with technology teams and business stakeholders across the enterprise.Advance data lifecycle management capabilities to ensure regulatory compliance to upcoming macro legislations (GDPR, Data retention and other policies) Enable faster seamless data ingestion capabilities through continuous automation, self-serve unified portal and enhanced user learning to support federated teams.Partner across peers to collectively enable improved Data Discoverability and Observability frameworks/features.Enable migration to Next Gen Big Data Platform and build features and migration plan in line with existing roadmap.Continuously evolve Data Security features to meet stakeholder/user needs across access management, changing ONCOP (Open Network Confidentiality Operating Principles) requirements etcCo-ordinate communication, escalate and facilitate resolution of risks, issues and changes tied to the Product BacklogEvaluate third party tools/capabilities landscape in support of new use requirements and enterprise roadmap. Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's or master's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information security, Mathematics, Statistics, or any other relevant qualification 8+ years of demonstrated excellence in leading teams delivering business solutions across a variety of platforms and technologies such as Big Data, Big Query, Google Cloud, Pyspark, Hive, Scala, Python Strong communicator who is able to effectively communicate across different levels and partners A good balance of technical knowledge and business acumen with an ability to do solution management using a principled approach. Loves dealing with fast pace, changing needs, and limited resources. The ability to set a high bar for your team and empower them to achieve great results A "driver" personality - constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery while balancing the need for great collaboration. Enthusiasm and passion for great platforms, products and services and an ability to articulate platform functionality Experience working with super highly available & performant software using high compute, in-memory databases, and cloud technologies like GCP Ability to discover and design scalable solutions and lead implementation of complex data products Strong program management, analytical & problem-solving skills Ability to think abstractly and deal with ambiguous/under-defined problem Consulting experience + Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
