Role Summary:

This is an exciting role for an experienced lab bioanalytical scientist to be part of the growing DMPK (Bioanalytical, BA) group here at Cerevel. He/she will be contributing towards in vitro / in vivo and biomarker quantitation studies along the drug discovery path using cell-culture, quantitative bioanalysis, lab automation and related lab skills, especially for early-stage programs in the company portfolio. This is a matrixed position that will involve frequent interactions with discovery research team members from cross-functional groups such as Chemistry, in vivo Biology, Translational Medicine and Toxicology. This role additionally offers a great learning/growth opportunity to improve the understanding of different aspects of the DMPK function in drug discovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • High quality BA data generation and dissemination in a professional, self-motivated way with minimal supervision and assistance from the supervisor/BA team
  • Hands-on BA work with different drug modalities of interest that could be small molecule or large molecules like ADC and mAb
  • Learn and perform new and existing quantitative biomarker assays – small molecule and/or proteins using LBA or LC/MS approaches
  • Documenting the experimental design, results and conclusions in Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and uploading summary reports to Cerevel data repository including working via our new cloud-based LIMS platform
  • Presenting scientific findings at internal and/or external scientific meetings
  • Training and mentoring young scientist(s) in the group re: large molecule bioanalysis

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D with 5 -8 yrs work experience, may include post-doctoral experience; or BS/MS (in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline) with 12+ years' work experience, preferably, in the industry
  • Strong training and understanding of hands-on mass spectrometry, from HRMS scouting analyses and targeted quantitation assay perspectives, will be essential for this position
  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS bioanalysis of small molecules and large molecules (peptides/mAb/ADC) and/or Oligos will be required
  • Strong learning capabilities, high scientific integrity, good interpersonal and communication skills will be required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, as well as in a team setting in a self-motivated way will be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to LBA approach for quantitative BA will be preferred but not required
  • Good understanding of BA and related automation processes used in the laboratory as well as a broader understanding of the drug discovery process and DMPK function will be preferred
  • Experience in working with cell cultures (establishing, maintaining and harvesting as needed for assays) and DMPK related in vitro assays will be an advantage

Education

  • Ph.D or MS or BS (Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline)
