Overview:
The Chung Lab at the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist to play a crucial role in the acquisition of spatial transcriptomic and proteomic optical imaging data from both human and non-human primate brains. This position will leverage the innovative technology pipeline developed by the Chung Lab, which includes:
  • Tissue processing
  • Molecular probe staining
  • Volumetric data acquisition utilizing light sheet microscopy

As a key contributor to the Center for Multi-scale Multi-Omic Human and Non-human Primate Atlas, you will be part of a significant NIH UM1 research initiative. Your responsibilities will encompass:
  • Independently conducting experiments and refining various protocols to ensure reliable and consistent outcomes.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to execute essential protocol validation experiments.
  • Working closely with the principal investigator and other key personnel to adhere to project milestones.
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual progress reports.
  • Ensuring timely data generation and advancement of experimental research.
  • Leading experiments with support from junior research staff and serving as a resource for all lab personnel.
  • Monitoring project timelines, troubleshooting challenges, and devising effective solutions.
  • Training lab members on general laboratory operations, equipment, and protocols.

Qualifications:
Required:
Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline; a minimum of five years of experience in a large research laboratory; strong technical and scientific writing abilities; experience in research and grant proposal development, writing, and editing; a publication record in peer-reviewed journals; supervisory experience; capacity to collaborate within a diverse team of graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research staff; excellent time management, planning, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; and experience in conducting online research and applying findings to projects.

Preferred:
Experience with or a willingness to learn new laboratory management software.
