Job Description

Position Summary

The interests of the lab are in understanding how genetic and environmental factors interactions shape mucosal immunity and metabolism. Our approach includes state-of-the-art multiomics, novel organoid culture, genetically engineered murine models, and human samples. The primary focus of this position will be to study how gene-environmental interactions trigger biological phenotypes. Expertise in organoid culture, peripheral blood mononuclear cell differentiation, and standard immunology assays are desirable. The lab has successfully competed for various funding.

The appointment is viewed as a training or transitional period preparatory to an academic, industrial, governmental, or other full-time research or teaching career. Used when the appointee performs specific services on a grant or contract in exchange for compensation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):

Prepare and submit papers on research.Assist in the design of research experiments.Evaluate research findings and assist in the reporting of the results.Assist with grant preparation and reporting. Conscientious discharge of his/her research responsibilities.Maintain conformity with ethical standards in research.Maintain compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records.Engage in open and timely discussion with his/her mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations.All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in University laboratories remain the property of the University. Required Qualifications Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree. Preferred Qualifications Experience in immunology, metabolism, developmental biology, or related fields with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.Experience with primary cell culture (including organoids), PBMC/BMDM culture, mouse models (breeding conditional knockouts, genotyping, and experimental procedures), flow cytometry, and microbiota analysis.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working Conditions This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals. Salary Range Base pay is commensurate with experience.
