We are currently seeking an Associate Director, HR Systems and Solutions to join our exciting and fast-paced HR Solutions team. This leader will be part entrepreneur, part visionary and part product mastermind, with a passion for creating well-designed, integrated, user-friendly solutions focusing on Workday as a vehicle for delivering a best-in-class employee experience to Chewtopians. We are seeking a highly motivated HR technology leader to lead a dynamic, diverse, and dedicated team supporting the Workday system as part of Chewy's HR tech stack. You will collaborate with teams across the organization to understand their processes and data architectures, identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation, and apply process engineering and best practice methodologies to achieve strategic objectives. You will partner to develop and execute a roadmap that delivers a simple, modern, and rewarding experience for our employees through digitized solutions.

As the Associate Director, HR Systems and Solutions, you will be responsible for system administration, including all security and workflow administration, report templates, and implementing necessary system upgrades to the application. In this role you are responsible for maximizing the usability of the platform and helping to create additional ROI by implementing efficiencies, optimizing business processes, deploying additional advanced capabilities, and delivering continuous improvements to the UX. This role understands and articulates the setup of the applicable software and how it interacts with downstream / upstream partners. You will provide strategic input and functional and technical guidance on the platform to lead translation of the technical roadmap into detailed actionable system priorities. You will maintain compliance standards and mitigate risks for the SOX-covered application. We are looking for an experienced product leader and builder to innovate on behalf of our team members. You will lead and gather industry knowledge to stay close to the advancements and best practices for adopting Workday capabilities. You will focus on building a world-class team member experience for this highly strategic space, defining, and implementing exceptional end-to-end team member experiences, providing thought leadership and innovative vision in a fast-paced start-up environment. You will also be a trusted partner for the enterprise customers, proactively partnering with these customers to understand their needs, lead the strategic planning process to define, scope and prioritize these initiatives, and ultimately ensure delivery is on-time, on-budget, and on-scope. This role requires deep product and portfolio management skills, excellent leadership skills, and strong business judgment.

What You'll Do:

  • Partner with the Director, HR System and Solution to develop and execute a 3-year product strategy roadmap supporting your assigned customer groups to deliver a world-class experience for our team members
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and plan the near-, mid-, and long-term needs, perform high level scoping and resource planning with delivery team leads, and manage prioritization including process improvements or other automated solutions to positively impact our employee experience and drive ongoing sprint planning and delivery tracking for all Workday related requests
  • Manage the planning and reporting activities across multiple, concurrent projects of varying complexity, providing consultation, strategic vision, and innovative solutions
  • Activate listening mechanisms and promote the use of business insights that help inform the roadmap and assessment of various tools and regularly communicate with stakeholders and end-users and ensure the product is used optimally and effectively. Track and ensure visibility to ongoing engagement, adoption, measurement, outcomes, and success; taking lessons learned forward to expand, improve, and evolve technology solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with Information Technology and others to ensure that all technical standards are met, and integration into the larger Chewy technology ecosystem is seamless, secure, scalable and supports the right data architecture. Responsible for providing business and technical architectural guidance to development teams, business groups, and internal customers for existing and new products & services and enabling application rationalization and configuration simplification. Oversee the processes to support Sox and audit controls and ensure Workday security is aligned with the ITGC standards.
  • Develop and socialize business cases, garner organizational support, educate leadership and stakeholders as to system capabilities – be the expert at communicating/demonstrating the 'Art of the Possible'
  • Create and own the strategy and process related to planning, designing, implementing, optimizing and managing the day-to-day activities of the xxx platform, identifying areas of improvement, developing and deploying solutions and enhancements that increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Act as a liaison amongst external vendor(s) to build strong, collaborative relationships in order to understand their roadmap and ensure service needs are being met. Review vendor proposals to ensure that quality inputs are delivered in accordance with Chewy's standards and within budget.
  • Steer organization through strategic initiatives, including business growth and expansion projects, with a focus on market needs, user adoption, quality, and change and transformational leadership. Suggest alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing cultural, measurement, and data needs. Provide a holistic approach to technology, HR tools, and the systems and processes that support them.
  • Act as primary authority on Workday capabilities, combining expert-level proficiency with the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with stakeholders to turn broad requirements into deliverable work items. Develop project plans using data gathered, constraints, and probable consequences. Ensure adherence to project schedule and other specifications. Manage project deliverables and milestones and specified project tasks and coordinate resources to ensure efficient delivery of HR products & services
  • Provides oversight, direction, development, problem resolution and leadership to team and actively manage the team's delivery, driving completion of projects / standards and establish SLAs for activities across the team and ensure that they are continuously monitored and met Direct, evaluate, define and improve the quality, quantity and timeliness standards to achieve individual and department performance goals as defined within department guidelines.
  • Create an environment which encourages high performance standards by upskilling, developing, and engaging your team members. Lead and attract top talent, motivate, assess, and manage performance to achieve the highest and best use of talent.
  • Support feature releases and issue resolution, working with business users, IT, vendors, and other support teams to define scope, prioritize, plan and implement system changes and enhancements Assess upcoming releases for bug fixes and new functionality, and coordinate the road mapping, testing, deployment, and stabilization of releases
  • Own library of system documentation including data flow diagrams, test scripts, user acceptance testing scenarios, support documentation, end-user documentation and training materials. Ensure that documented processes are adhered to organizationally; providing timely feedback to partners to ensure consistency and accountability. Ensure high data quality by instituting and monitoring appropriate audits. Regularly review audit processes to ensure that errors are caught quickly, and effective solutions are put in place.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations and ensure compliance with all policies, practices, and procedures. Implement data governance processes and procedures to maintain data integrity and security.
  • Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in a Management of Information Systems or Computer Science) or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years in a role responsible for technical system support in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization. Must have specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise and deep knowledge across the Workday suite of products. Workday Pro certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 4+ years leadership experience; ideally developing and managing a high-performance team in the processing a high volume of data transactions
  • Project Management experience successfully leading and delivering complex operational and strategic business projects involving Workday's suite of products.
  • Expertise in agile software development methodologies and their adoption within teams using JIRA and Confluence and sprint methodology for delivery
  • Proven knowledge and skills in enterprise data management, data governance, data quality principles, and methodologies and deep understanding of downstream integrations to gauge impact of changes, triage and remedy incidents and/or scope level of effort for new initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills - able to translate between technical and business groups, bring forward a vision or opinion and a solid understanding of trade-offs of architectural patterns and comfortable with recommending approaches and associated technology choices
  • Comfort with leading multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritize decisions and tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
