Job Summary


The Account Executive for EMD is a key member of the team working on strategic communication initiatives across multiple client accounts. This position is based in LA and is a hybrid of remote and required in-office workdays (M/T/TH) in our Century City office.


We are seeking a person who has an appetite for learning and advancing their career in entertainment publicity. The ideal candidate has a passion for pop culture and a desire to build behind-the-scenes PR campaigns for film, TV, streaming content, corporate clients, and creative talent—specifically directors, screenwriters, producers, and showrunners. This collaboratively spirited person thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys communicating with and working in teams both internally in EMD and client-facing, and is innately interested in the business of entertainment and the cultural zeitgeist. This person also knows the benchmarks for a successful PR campaign and possesses strong problem-solving skills, an ability to multi-task, and effective written and verbal communication skills.



Qualifications

  • Strong desire and passion to build a behind-the-scenes career in the entertainment PR field
  • Resourceful self-starter with a passion for the entertainment industry and pop culture
  • 2+ years of media relations experience; agency/client experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of key contacts at press publications; relationships with key print/broadcast/social media and word-of-mouth groups are a plus
  • Track record of thinking strategically and problem-solving
  • Ability to identify and develop pitch angles for stories, develop press materials, and secure appropriate media placements for clients
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills reporting to both internal EMD team members and clients
  • Ability to build meaningful press and industry relationships, and grow a personal network of business contacts
  • Outstanding judgment when working with media, team members, clients, and vendors; exercises discretion
  • Professional presence with clients and coworkers
  • Effective, organized multi-tasker with an ability to meet deadlines
  • Dynamic, motivated, nimble, intellectually curious, with a willingness to learn and take direction well

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates creative and detailed strategic thinking and execution that accomplishes client objectives
  • Communicates professionally, efficiently, and effectively with media and clients
  • Actively represents and pitches clients to media, word-of-mouth groups, and tastemakers
  • Develops and writes PR materials such as pitches, press releases, and media alerts
  • Consistently updates progress reports on work objectives and responsibilities to internal and client teams
  • Quickly weeds through minutiae and relays relevant information to all appropriate parties promptly and accurately
  • Builds relationships with key media and industry tastemakers
  • Remains abreast of industry developments and news
  • Works with EMD senior leadership in researching and preparing new business proposals for new and existing clients
  • Promotes 42West, as appropriate, including identification of relevant outlets to publicize/promote current accounts and activities
  • Willingness to mentor Assistant Account Executives and interns
  • REQUIRED: Availability to work screenings and events on evenings, weekends, and holidays on occasion
