Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson is currently accepting applications for the VP of Resource Development to support our programs.

We are seeking a forward-thinking team leader passionate about organizational growth with cross-functional skills that shine across multiple areas. This role will be working with individual and major gifts, bequests, and in-kind support.

Responsible for the overall fundraising, marketing, and communications objectives, planning and implementing strategies to secure donors and contributions in support of the organization.

Additionally, this role will be developing a grant strategy, providing oversight of the fund development program, monitoring development activities, and addressing issues that may hamper growth and success.

Requirements

  • Work with the CEO and senior management team to facilitate short and long-term strategic plans, including the creation of an annual fundraising budget.
  • As part of the executive leadership team, this role engages and supports all levels related to workplace culture.
  • Manage and lead highly cross functional internal team members, participating in the recruitment of additional Marketing and Development team members as necessary.
  • Identify and address development issues that affect the well-being and efficacy of the organization.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy and ensure that fund development is executed in keeping with the organization's values, vision, and mission.
  • Participate with the CEO and senior management to plan the organization's fund development course and programs.
  • Manage the operations development function efficiently, and oversee development activities in coordination with staff.
  • Establish a balanced mix of donor sources, including major gift and planned giving, as well as fundraising programs to attract, steward, and retain donors and fundraising volunteers.
  • Establish performance measures, monitor results, and evaluate the efficacy of the fund development program.
  • Steward a grant strategic plan with the grants team, on a federal, state and level.
  • Champion relationships with the community for partnerships with other nonprofit organizations, aligning to our mission of youth development.
  • Maintain accountability and ensure compliance with all regulations and laws, as well as the code of ethics for fundraising professionals.
  • Keep abreast of developments in philanthropy and fund development trends.
  • Champion partnerships and develop structure for donors.
  • Establish naming rights and donor levels for the clubhouses, aligned to BGCA guidelines.
Work Environment

  • No unusual physical requirements. Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility. Role may work remotely as needed.
  • Routine deadlines (usually sufficient lead time); variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; interruptions are common.
  • Job will require frequent event attendance to include weeknights and weekends.
  • Job frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, handling objects with hands, talking, hearing, typing and looking at a computer screen. Job occasionally requires reaching and lifting up to 10 pounds.
General Club operating hours are Monday-Friday from 2 PM to 7 PM, Wednesdays 1-7pm (August-May). Summer hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (June and July). Position could be a hybrid or remote role.

Requirements Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience within a major gifts officer role.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on collaboration, conflict resolution, superior time-management, multitasking, and organizational skills
  • Superior interpersonal, oral, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of Board members, personnel, donors
  • Demonstrated success in closing gift solicitations at the five- to seven-figure level
  • Skilled in persuasive writing
  • Organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to meet project deadlines
  • Experience working independently and as a team player
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and donor databases
  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals on time and handle multiple tasks and projects
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in both small and large group settings
  • Strong team player
  • Able to maintain sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Experience working for a social service or community-based organization a plus
