Vice President of Operations

Northwest Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare organization dedicated to providing high-quality and accessible medical services to the Tucson community and its surroundings. Our facility is a 287-bed hospital that offers a wide array of services, supported by our team of skilled healthcare professionals committed to delivering compassionate care.
As part of the CEO Development Program, this role will necessitate relocation within a reasonable timeframe for advancement opportunities.
The Vice President of Operations (VPO) reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is accountable for the daily operational management of the hospital, which includes driving revenue growth, managing expenses, and overseeing financial performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
The responsibilities of the VPO encompass, but are not limited to:
- Supervising the daily functions of all hospital departments, excluding Nursing.
- Coordinating the preparation of facility and program planning budgets and administering hospital policy development.
- Representing the hospital at various professional, civic, and governmental events and meetings.
- Collaborating with physicians who utilize the hospital services, including involvement in the recruitment and retention of medical staff.
- Partnering with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality accreditations alongside the Chief Nursing Officer.
- Working with the Chief Executive Officer to foster an environment conducive to attracting and retaining qualified hospital personnel.
- Analyzing opportunities for organization-wide performance enhancement initiatives.
- Assisting in the development of new services that create additional profitable revenue streams.
- Contributing to cost management efforts by identifying non-value costs and implementing strategies to eliminate them in collaboration with financial and nursing leadership.
- Participating in monthly operational reviews and corporate meetings as required.
Education Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- A Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or an MBA with a focus on Healthcare is mandatory.
- A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in hospital management across multiple departments within an acute care setting.
- Experience in physician relations or recruitment is essential.
- Proficiency in both written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, hospital staff, and the community.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality regarding personal, financial, or medical information.
- Knowledge of technical and professional skills management, human resource management principles, labor relations, and hospital economics.
