Job Title: Family Support Specialist at Sheppard Pratt Health System

General Summary:

Reporting to the HFM Team Leader, you'll play a crucial role in improving the home environment and parenting skills to ensure the well-being of at-risk children. The focus is on preventing abuse/neglect and promoting healthy development.

As a Bilingual Family Support Specialist (English/Spanish), you'll work directly with families to enhance parent-child relationships, empower parents, and build self-sufficiency.



Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Manage a caseload of 24, documenting interventions and ensuring timely assessments.
  • Build trust with at-risk families, utilizing parent-child interaction and child development concepts.
  • Implement evidence-based curriculum and develop service plans with supervisory guidance.
  • Record family observations and interventions promptly, maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Facilitate community resource access and assist in appointments for families.
  • Participate in group activities, applying basic counseling skills as needed.
  • Adhere to program standards and meet regularly with the HFM Team Leader.
  • Attend meetings, training, and maintain certification requirements.
  • Report and document suspected abuse cases following regulations.
  • Drive to serve Montgomery County communities and maintain accurate work hour and mileage records.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Minimum high school graduate with knowledge of parenting skills and early childhood required.

Preferred Bachelor's degree in a related field with 1 year of experience.

Strong organizational and computer skills, flexibility with work hours, and fluent in Spanish and English.

Valid driver's license, reliable car, and ability to lift up to 30 pounds.



Working Conditions:
Work may be in a childcare environment with common noise and distractions. Ability to lift 30 pounds and engage in floor time activities.
