Payroll Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Payroll Processing:
    • Manage biweekly payroll for internal companies and PEO clients
    • Ensure accuracy in weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing
    • Handle new employee paperwork and data entry
    • Maintain employee deductions, process changes and terminations
    • Enter court-ordered deductions
    • Process payroll and tax documents for multiple clients, adhering to specific schedules
    • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions for various employee types
    • Review and reconcile payroll discrepancies
    • Handle adjustments, corrections, and special payroll runs
    • Process benefit reports and monthly workers' compensation reports
  2. System Management:
    • Utilize payroll software for processing and reporting
    • Troubleshoot system issues and collaborate on improvements
  3. Reporting:
    • Generate and distribute detailed payroll reports
    • Analyze payroll data for trends and improvements
    • Prepare year-end reports, including W-2s and 1099s
  4. Continuous Improvement:
    • Assist in process improvements and efficiency enhancements
    • Participate in payroll-related projects and initiatives
    • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a PEO or multi-client environment
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Preferred:

  • Worker's Compensation experience
  • Professional Employer Organization (PEO) experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
