GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Accounting Specialist will provide accounting support to major financial accounting areas, including the accounts payable desk, general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs basic office tasks such as filing, data entry, answering phones, processing mail, etc.
- Prepares and balances deposits and provides reports to cash posters for all incoming deposits daily
- Enters daily transactions into Finance shared posting log, balances and works with Billing Dept. and Finance staff to resolve differences
- Manages and reviews site deposit logs for daily activity and ensures deposits are completed timely
- Performs monthly vendor and purchase card reconciliations
- Researches old, outstanding checks to either void and re-issue, or move to unclaimed property
- Assists in performing accounts payable processing which includes entering invoices, maintaining vendor files, cutting checks, obtaining signatures and filing cancelled backup documents
- Maintains and reviews time and attendance reports and other payroll details for accurate reporting; works with HR staff and site supervisors to resolve discrepancies
- Assists in preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll, payroll trainings, employee support and reporting
- Reconciles monthly benefit statements and works with HR staff to resolve discrepancies
- Strict adherence to all Evara Health, HIPAA, HRSA, State, Federal and accreditation agency rules and regulations
- Assists in reconciling balance sheet and other G/L accounts, analyzes documentation, and prepares journal entries as part of the monthly close process

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Suite of products and modern office equipment for administrative functions
- Strong ability compile and organize data and to create clear, concise reports
- Ability to operate a computerized accounting system
- Ability to work well with others and establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel and vendors
- Must be detail oriented, organized and be able to prioritize tasks and projects
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field, preferred
