The Assistant/Associate Director, Prospect & Portfolio Management, serves as a collaborative partner and leader for fundraisers on strategic portfolio composition and donor strategy development and drives fundraiser activity toward achieving goals and metrics. This role uses advanced knowledge and skills to implement prospect management best practices that encourage major and transformational gift relationships and is responsible for maximizing fundraising opportunities within gift officer portfolios.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • In collaboration with leadership team, develops and maintains dynamic portfolios to support the University's strategic plan and fundraising priorities.
  • Leads prospect management efforts for leadership and major/principal gift fundraising team.
  • Oversees, manages, develops, and guides portfolios by serving as a strategic partner to monitor and assess portfolio activity, such as actions and opportunities. Guides fundraising team towards effectively qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospects by planning and developing innovative strategies for portfolio growth.
  • Uses research and donor analytics to analyze patterns of giving and donor characteristics to create annual and ad hoc strategy recommendations for maximizing solicitations.
  • Leads portfolio review meetings to oversee prospect management, including portfolio assignment or un-assignment requests, qualification strategy development, and accountability for donor next steps. Leverages analytics and industry best practices to help fundraisers prioritize donor prospects.
  • Assists in developing, managing, tracking, and reporting fundraising goals and metrics.
  • Conducts regular data audits and data hygiene projects to ensure that prospect management and donor data accuracy in Raiser's Edge.
  • Monitors fundraisers' performance metrics and strategically utilizes data to assist fundraisers to meet their individual goals.
  • Proactively outlines milestones, outcomes, and deliverables and effectively communicates them to leadership. Creates progress reports as requested.
  • Assists with documenting and maintaining prospect development processes and procedures.
  • Maximizes use of Raiser's Edge NXT Database to support fundraising activities.
  • Completes basic prospect research requests, including bios, gift capacity review, and available wealth screening data.

  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook).
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Associate Director, Prospect & Portfolio Management Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires either eleven years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and seven years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Professional full-time experience with Advancement, fundraising, or other relevant experience.
