SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Café Vitalidad Senior Activity Center Director will focus on planning, organizing, and executing daily activities to provide culturally appropriate care and entertainment for Hispanic seniors. As the heart of Café Vitalidad, The Center Director will ensure our seniors enjoy nutritious dinners and engaging activities in a warm and welcoming environment. This position will conduct all interactions at the center in Spanish. Being Bilingual is a minimum requirement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the core duties and responsibilities of the position but is not exhaustive:

  1. Develop and implement a monthly activity calendar, including guest speakers, trips, and cultural activities.
  2. Ensure the proper utilization of resources and adherence to operational procedures.
  3. Maintain accurate inventory and repair records for the center.
  4. Coordinate transportation needs of clients with drivers and the Transportation Director as necessary.
  5. Oversee the preparation and serving of culturally appropriate dinners at the center, collaborating closely with the Kitchen Manager.
  6. Assist the Kitchen Manager with inventory, requisitioning supplies, and meal preparation as needed.
  7. Maintain and report required statistics and records on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  8. Utilize ServTracker to manage client records and other statistical information.
  9. Plan and coordinate center fundraisers and participate in agency-wide events.
  10. Promote center events through various channels including community outreach, local media, and public speaking engagements.
  11. Recruit new members by engaging with the community and visiting senior homes.
  12. Provide referrals to clients for agency and non-agency programs.
  13. Manage meal donations and ensure daily deposits.
  14. Ensure the center is clean, neat, attractive, and comfortable for members.
  15. Attend required training sessions and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe.
  16. Train, schedule, and supervise volunteers.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Minimum requirements:

  1. Bilingual (English/Spanish) with all center interactions conducted in Spanish.
  2. Two-year college degree in geriatric social services, human services, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
  3. Proficient in computer use, including database software.
  4. Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and present information effectively.
  6. Ability to sit for long periods for office work.
  7. CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe certifications required upon hire.
  8. Problem-solving skills and ability to handle a variety of situations.
  9. Valid driver’s license, defensive driving certificate, and proof of insurance.

REPORTING: This position directly to the Congregate Program Manager and then to the Nutrition Program Director

PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: Most duties and functions will be performed in an office environment although local travel to other CHEER locations is required to support programs and services as required in those locations.


WORK HOURS: Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM. One additional day: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Flexibility to work occasional extended hours, evenings, and weekends as required.


EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Part-time Temporary (Contract) – 20 hours per week
