POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of the Café Vitalidad Senior Activity Center is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and execution of daily programs that cater to the cultural needs of Hispanic seniors. This role is pivotal in creating a nurturing environment where seniors can enjoy nutritious meals and participate in enriching activities. All communications within the center will be conducted in Spanish, making bilingualism a fundamental requirement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following outlines the primary responsibilities associated with this role:

  1. Design and execute a monthly schedule of activities, including guest speakers, excursions, and cultural events.
  2. Ensure efficient resource management and compliance with operational guidelines.
  3. Maintain comprehensive records of inventory and repairs for the facility.
  4. Coordinate client transportation logistics with drivers and relevant personnel.
  5. Supervise the preparation and serving of culturally relevant meals, working closely with the Kitchen Manager.
  6. Assist in inventory management and supply requisitioning for meal preparation.
  7. Compile and report necessary statistics and records on a routine basis.
  8. Utilize client management software to maintain accurate records and data.
  9. Organize and lead fundraising initiatives for the center and engage in broader agency events.
  10. Promote center activities through community outreach, media channels, and public speaking opportunities.
  11. Engage with the community to recruit new members and visit senior living facilities.
  12. Provide clients with referrals to various programs and services.
  13. Manage meal donations and oversee daily financial transactions.
  14. Ensure the center is maintained in a clean, inviting, and comfortable manner for all members.
  15. Participate in required training and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and food safety.
  16. Oversee the training, scheduling, and management of volunteers.
  17. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential qualifications include:

  1. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) with all center interactions conducted in Spanish.
  2. A two-year college degree in geriatric social services, human services, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  3. Competence in computer applications, particularly database management.
  4. Strong time management and multitasking abilities in a dynamic environment.
  5. Capability to read, interpret documents, write standard reports, and communicate information effectively.
  6. Ability to perform office work for extended periods.
  7. CPR, First Aid, and food safety certifications are required upon hire.
  8. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to various situations.
  9. A valid driver's license, defensive driving certification, and proof of insurance are necessary.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports directly to the Congregate Program Manager and subsequently to the Nutrition Program Director.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most responsibilities will be carried out in an office setting, with occasional travel to other locations as needed to support programs and services.


WORK SCHEDULE
Part-time Temporary (Contract) position, requiring 20 hours per week.
