POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of the Café Vitalidad Senior Activity Center is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and execution of daily programs aimed at delivering culturally relevant care and entertainment for Hispanic seniors. As the cornerstone of Café Vitalidad, the Center Director will ensure that seniors partake in nutritious meals and engaging activities within a friendly and inviting atmosphere. This role requires all interactions at the center to be conducted in Spanish, with bilingual proficiency being a fundamental requirement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following outlines the primary responsibilities associated with this position:

  1. Create and manage a monthly calendar of activities, featuring guest speakers, excursions, and cultural events.
  2. Ensure optimal resource utilization and compliance with operational protocols.
  3. Maintain precise inventory and repair logs for the center.
  4. Coordinate client transportation needs with drivers and the Transportation Director as necessary.
  5. Supervise the preparation and serving of culturally appropriate meals at the center, working closely with the Kitchen Manager.
  6. Assist the Kitchen Manager with inventory management, supply requisition, and meal preparation as required.
  7. Compile and report necessary statistics and records on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  8. Utilize ServTracker for managing client records and statistical data.
  9. Plan and oversee fundraising events for the center and engage in agency-wide initiatives.
  10. Promote center activities through various outreach methods, including community engagement, local media, and public speaking.
  11. Attract new members by connecting with the community and visiting senior residences.
  12. Provide clients with referrals to both agency and external programs.
  13. Manage meal donations and ensure timely deposits.
  14. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for all members.
  15. Participate in mandatory training sessions and uphold certifications in CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe.
  16. Recruit, schedule, and supervise volunteers.
  17. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications include:

  1. Bilingual (English/Spanish) with all center communications conducted in Spanish.
  2. A two-year college degree in geriatric social services, human services, or a related field is preferred; or equivalent experience.
  3. Proficiency in computer applications, including database management software.
  4. Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities in a dynamic environment.
  5. Capability to read and interpret documents, compose routine reports, and effectively present information.
  6. Ability to remain seated for extended periods for office-related tasks.
  7. CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe certifications are required upon hire.
  8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate various situations.
  9. A valid driver's license, defensive driving certification, and proof of insurance.

REPORTING STRUCTURE: This position reports directly to the Congregate Program Manager and subsequently to the Nutrition Program Director.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most responsibilities will be carried out in an office setting, with local travel to other CHEER locations as necessary to support programs and services.



WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time Temporary (Contract) – 20 hours per week.
