POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of the Café Vitalidad Senior Activity Center is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and execution of daily programs aimed at delivering culturally relevant care and entertainment for Hispanic seniors. As a pivotal figure at Café Vitalidad, the Center Director will ensure that seniors have access to nutritious meals and stimulating activities within a friendly and inviting atmosphere. This role requires all communications at the center to be conducted in Spanish, making bilingualism a fundamental requirement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following outlines the primary responsibilities associated with this role, though it is not an exhaustive list:
- Design and execute a monthly calendar of activities, featuring guest speakers, excursions, and cultural events.
- Ensure optimal resource utilization and compliance with operational protocols.
- Maintain comprehensive inventory and repair logs for the center.
- Coordinate client transportation needs with drivers and the Transportation Director as required.
- Supervise the preparation and serving of culturally relevant meals at the center, working closely with the Kitchen Manager.
- Assist the Kitchen Manager with inventory management, supply requisition, and meal preparation as necessary.
- Collect and report essential statistics and records on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Utilize ServTracker for managing client records and statistical data.
- Plan and oversee fundraising initiatives for the center and participate in organization-wide events.
- Promote center activities through various outreach methods, including community engagement, local media, and public speaking.
- Engage with the community to recruit new members and visit senior living facilities.
- Provide clients with referrals to both agency and non-agency programs.
- Manage meal donations and ensure proper handling of daily deposits.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for all members.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and uphold certifications in CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe.
- Train, schedule, and oversee volunteers.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential qualifications include:
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) with all center interactions conducted in Spanish.
- A two-year college degree in geriatric social services, human services, or a related field is preferred; or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including database management software.
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities in a dynamic environment.
- Capability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and effectively present information.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods for office tasks.
- CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe certifications are required upon hiring.
- Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to manage diverse situations.
- A valid driver's license, defensive driving certification, and proof of insurance.
REPORTING STRUCTURE: This position reports directly to the Congregate Program Manager and subsequently to the Nutrition Program Director.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most responsibilities will be carried out in an office setting, although local travel to support programs and services at other locations may be necessary.
WORK SCHEDULE: Flexibility to work various hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time Temporary (Contract) – 20 hours per week
